What can I operate without a
driver's license?
Basically, nothing motorized, electric or gasoline powered in
the state of Florida is legal to operate on the streets without a license. To our understanding of the law, but we recommend
checking with your local authorities, a minimum driver's license is required to operate any motorized vehicle on regulated
roadways. There are exceptions to this rule. Electric powered vehicles with three or more wheels are legal (handicap
scooters) as well as electrically assisted bicycles.
I'm 15 With My Permit, Can I
Operate A Scooter?
No. To operate a scooter under 50cc's you must be a licensed driver.
When is a Motorcycle Endorsement
Necessary?
In the state Florida, licensing is based on cycle displacement. 2 wheeled vehicles
that exceed 50cc's can only legally be operated by drivers with their motorcycle endorsement. Under 50cc's, no endorsement
is necessary, yet. Those wanting to obtain their endorsement under the age of 21 are required to take the motorcycle
safety class. Over 21, it is recommended but optional. Soon, Florida will have 2 types of endorsements.
One for all 2 wheeled vehicles, the other will be a scooter only endorsement.
How Fast is a 50cc (49cc) Scooter?
Let's assume you are buying a new unmodified scooter. In general, good quality
2 stroke scooters can reach speeds up to 40 MPH and get about 70 miles per gallon. Four stroke scooters usually have
less acceleration and a lower top speed, about 32 MPH max, but can get 100 miles per gallon.
How Fast are the Larger Scooters?
